Hardwoods & Live Edge

Welcome to Hardwood Lumber and Millwork

Here's a brief rundown to help you plan your visit.

​

  1. Self-service lumber racks! Pick out the best boards for your projects. With 17 species of domestic hardwoods and nearly
    30 species of exotic woods, you'll find lots of beautiful options. 
     

  2. We stock many common thicknesses of hardwoods--4/4, 5/4, 6/4, and 8/4, (and a few even in 10/4 or 12/4), so you're not limited to just one or two sizes. And all of our lumber is GRADED FAS 1-F (First and Second 1 Face), Select or FEQ (First European Quality).
     

  3. We're here to answer any questions you may have, or just give you time to think through your project while you shop. Tape measurers and lumber crayons are always available to mark cuts and do some "figuring." We understand that your spending your hard-earned money with us. We want you to be happy with your purchase.
     

  4. Need a different length? Just ask! Most species of domestic hardwoods are available in 8', 10', 12', 14', and 16'. We work with multiple suppliers, so we may be able to order a length more suitable to your project. It may not be available, but we'll gladly check for you. (Exotics tend to be more limited on available lengths.)
     

  5. Driving from a far distance? Call ahead to make sure we have the material you need. We'll check the inventory on the rack.
    We want your trip to be worth it.
     

  6. Need a small board? We'll cut a single board to sell you a smaller piece, as long as we have at least 4' left to go back on the rack. (limited to one board per species)
     

  7. Won't fit in your vehicle? No need to bring a saw, or to cut your material in the parking lot. We'll rough cut your purchase for transportation (not to project size) for free.
     

  8. Purchasing 100bf? Receive a 10% discount on all hardwoods.
     

  9. Get a jump start on your project. Surfacing--S2S, S3S, S4S--available, usually while you wait.
     

  10. Please leave the stacks in neat order when you're done.

All of our domestic hardwood lumber is FAS-1 Face or Select & Better unless noted. Figured woods are often rated below FAS-1, because although beautiful, the figured markings are usually considered imperfections, resulting in a lower grade.

​Live Edge Slabs with a Story

We're Central Florida's only supplier that specializes in kiln dried, locally harvested live edge slabs. Knowing the history of where your slab comes from adds an exciting dimension to your live edge project, and you'll only find it here at Hardwood Lumber. Our selection is always changing, but often includes, Camphor, Cedar, Cypress, Pecan, Hickory, Indian Rosewood, Sycamore, Blue Pine, Live Oak and more.

The possibilities for live edge woods are endless and appearances run the gamut! Think amazing shelves, gorgeous coffee tables, envious entertainment units, and sensational tables and bartops. Most of our slabs are stored on end, like books, so it's easy to browse our selection and pick out the perfect piece.

Plywood

Plywood is sold in full 4x8 sheets. Don't see what you need? We can get many plywoods within a few days. We can even have custom lay ups done, if needed.

Shop Service

We offer shop services for material purchased from us. Surfacing can usually be performed while you wait. *Some services will require you to leave your material with us for a day or two.

  • S2S--two faces thru planer (Not face jointed)

  • S3S--two faces thru planer & one joint edge

  • S4S--Four sides, 1 strip from bd

  • S4S Strips--Multiple strips from bd 

  • Face joint one side up to 15" 

  • *Surface customer piece, up to 30"

  • *Machine sand customer piece, up to 43", up to 3 passes, 120 grit
